People don't understand that we spent more time actually taking pictures when we were amateurs. When we turned full-time pro, we spent most of our time on the computer. All I can say is that it is kind of nice to be retired.

I hear you. Self-employment is a double-edged sword. When I was a full-time freelancer (editing on a computer), I went YEARS without taking a full day off. When you work in a home office (yes, it's lovely), it is too easy to do some work every day, even if only for an hour or two. I could afford a vacation (and some avocational photography!), yet the prospect was terrifying. Leaving the comfy, convenient confines behind for parts unknown. And all the planning and prep and letting clients know, etc. Terrifying! I finally began visualizing, imagining being on the road, camping or lodging, to get comfortable with the coming reality. Then when we finally headed out there, WOW! Absolutely loved it.
